The school has a very active Parents’ Association, which
organises regular socials that are very well supported.
It also has a number of links with local industry and the local
community. Industrialists and other members of the community regularly
visit the school to contribute to the curriculum. All year 10 students
(and Sixth Form GNVQ students) engage in a two weeks work experience.
In the Sixth Form we run an “Insight into Management”
course. The school is part of the Neighbourhood Engineers Project
and works closely with the Education Business Partnership.
The
school was awarded the Schools’ Curriculum Award 2000 in recognition
of its links with the community.
Link Evenings for Parents
Head Teacher Mark Lloyd did a presentation at the year 7, 8, 9,
10 and 11 link evenings. Some parents were interested in having
access to the presentation material that was used. So here they
are in PowerPoint format.
