Identifying students
Consulting previous data where available;
Observing how students routinely work, in class and during activities outside the classroom;
observing them systematically in a range of learning contexts;
observing students' responses to their work and talking with them about what they like, dislike and what enables them to learn best;
Tracking students;
Judging the progress they make in national curriculum subjects and whether they are beyond the level of attainment for their age;
Monitoring students' performance in national curriculum and other standardised tests;
Talking to form mentors, who see students in a range of contexts and know about their circumstances
Extension Activities
The level of challenge to students is raised by the use of careful questioning techniques and differentiated work where appropriate;
Students work in a range of combinations and settings - as individuals, pairs, or in groups;
Students are encouraged to reflect on the process of their own learning and to understand the factors that help them to make progress;
Meetings of G&T students across years to discuss further activities / learning opportunities
Collaboration with outside agencies
Differentiated worksheets used in various lessons, accessible through shared area and Moodle
