Activities Within the Music Department

[Tour 2003] [GCSE] [AS Music Technology] [Activities]

The music department has a number of extra curricular music clubs which take part in concerts throughout the year. These clubs include:

  • Junior Orchestra
  • Senior Orchestra
  • Junior Choir
  • Senior Choir
  • African Drumming Club
  • Steel Drum Club
  • Keyboard club

All of the above groups rehearse on a weekly basis and anybody is welcome to join them as long as they are committed and attend every week.

We believe that music is very valuable and therefore we have a busy schedule of concerts and trips all of which are exciting and fun to be part of. Here are some of the events that took place during 2002 – 2003:

  • Christmas carol concert
  • Winter Concert
  • Joint Borough Gospel concert
  • Easter Concert
  • Music Tour To Spain for a week
  • ‘ Cabaret’ style summer concert
  • Year 7 trip to the festival hall to see the LPO

We look forward to this academic year which will be filled with similar events. In addition to the activities which took place last year we are also planning a production of the west end musical ‘Les Miserables’.

Here at Barking Abbey School we are proud of our extra-curricular programme and enjoy giving our pupils the opportunity to develop in all areas as well as their academic studies.
