Drama Key Stage 3: Years
7, 8 & 9
At K.S.3 students have one discreet period
of Drama per week. Schemes of work encourage and build inter-personal
skills and group negotiation and cooperation whilst focusing
on performance techniques. Topics are explored in depth over
an average of 6-8 lessons.

Drama skills explored in Year
9:
- Playing Status, Characterisation, Exploring text, Use
of symbolism, Ensemble work and Technique revision.
Detailed Programme of Study:
- Status Investigation – exploring what status
is and how it is measured in society, how we transmit
status and how it can be altered. This scheme of work
includes, games, rehearsed and spontaneous improvisation
and
textual
exploration.
- Characters of Holborne House – in
depth study of characterisation focusing on the skills
required
to authentically
portray characters of different ages, sexes and
dispositions through careful observation and demonstration.
This
scheme of work is a mixture of both creative and skills
based activities.
- Ensemble – exploring group work
in detail. Isolating the skills needed to successfully
work as a team
and highlighting where things can go wrong. This scheme
of work includes choral
movement and voice activities and team building
exercises.
