Caring for your Child

Although Barking Abbey is a large school we ensure that every child is well known by key staff. Each pupil is allocated to a tutor group on entry to the school and will usually remain in that group for five years, giving them the opportunity to build up relationships and a feeling of belonging. The form tutor maintains close contact with, and oversight of, each pupil in his/her care. Each year group has a very experienced member of staff as Year Co-ordinator, and parents should contact the appropriate Year Co-ordinator if there is a problem with their son or daughter.

The Lower School at Longbridge consists of Years Seven and Eight and has its own Head of School, who with two other Senior Staff, is assisted by two Year Co-ordinators and their Deputies. There is a team of form tutors in all years. The Upper School at Sandringham Road consists of Years Nine to Thirteen and has its own Head of School and Head of Sixth Form.
